Western Sydney Travel Sketching Classes

Art Food Culture

Welcome to the world of Sketching. Enjoy a friendly class environment learning how to Travel Sketch.

Classes are designed for complete beginners, and those who think they can’t draw. If you are an experienced sketcher and wish to join us, you are welcome to join. Anna can help progress you forward and provide plenty of inspiration and challenges for you.

Each week, Anna teaches skills that give you confidence and joy with your sketching. Western Sydney is the perfect place to learn Travel Sketching. We focus on the food, culture and environment of Anna’s favourite suburbs. After some practice you will develop your own unique style, and have the confidence to sketch wherever and whenever you please.

Record your daily life as you would in a diary or journal, and take your new skill travelling. Your sketchbook will have a beautiful record of your days. Share your delight with the worldwide online community of sketchers, or keep it to yourself as a personal record to pass on one day.

We begin in Cabramatta, then head out to different Western Sydney locations each week to practice our new skills. We enjoy different cafes, restaurants and food markets and we sketch on location both in the urban environment as well as in restaurants and cafes.

  • Classes are held in Cabramatta cafes, restaurants and food markets.

    We sketch on location both in the urban environment as well as in restaurants and cafes.

    Term 1 - February 12th - April 2nd

    Term 3 - July 30th - Sept 17th

    Term 4 - October 29th 0 December 17th

    Wednesdays 10am-1pm

  • 8 week term $320

    6 week term $240

    Casual Class $50

    Returning Students $45 casual rate or

    (class credits given for prior engagements and health breaks)

    *There is an expectation that you will spend an average of around $10-15 extra for a beverage and lunch each week. This allows us to sketch inside cafes and restaurants.

    Anna generally chooses relaxed street food and snack food style eateries. This helps to showcase the unique cultures of the wonderful Sydney suburbs.

  • you will only need a basic sketch kit comprising of:

    • your favourite sketchbook

    • a small travel palette with a few watercolour 1/2 pans (yellow, red and blue minimum)

    • a few watercolour (aquarelle) pencils

    • a black waterproof pen

    • a size 4 paintbrush or water brush

    • small water container with screw top lid
