“Nature is strictly moral. There is no attempt to cheat the Earth my means of steel vault of bronze coffin. I hope that when I die I too may be permitted to pay at once my oldest outstanding debt, to restore promptly the minerals and salts that have been lent to me for the little while that I have use for blood and bone and flesh.”

Louise Dickinson Rich

I wander through the bush. The cold snap and high winds had driven me indoors for days. The grey days played on my mood. I knew that each step would be a step towards restoration. I didnt want to go. Its easier to stay inside by the fire. But then I noticed the rotting logs and stumps. And looking closer I see that the decomposition supports the new growth. Signs of spring are here, and the winter deaths bring it. I see soft sap greens supported by old burnt umbers

Entire new shrubs have burst forth in flower. Last week I would not have noticed this bush. Now in its expansion I can not help but receive the joy.

I start to notice and wonder. The treasures show themselves. Always there but so often not seen.

Slowing down and enjoying the delight of the tiny details, I have been restored.
