  • This itinerary is thoughtfully designed for discerning travellers who appreciate immersive cultural exploration at a consistent, unhurried, yet active pace.

Each day involves extended periods on foot — typically three to four hours — as we move through historic quarters, living neighbourhoods, architectural sites, markets, and landscapes where texture, scale, and detail are best experienced slowly and on the ground. Terrain may include uneven stone pathways, gentle inclines, staircases, and heritage environments that retain their original character.

Travel between locations may include local transport and occasional transitions that require ease with boarding and disembarking, as well as accommodation that reflects the authenticity of place rather than uniformity of modern hotel design.

This journey is best suited to travellers with confident mobility, a comfortable level of fitness, and an enjoyment of sustained daily movement as part of cultural engagement rather than physical exertion.

The rhythm of the experience is intentional and fluid, allowing for depth of observation and connection. It is not designed for a leisurely or intermittent pace, but for those who find pleasure in being continuously present within a place — walking, noticing, and absorbing its layers in real time.

Cultural Engagement

These journeys are designed for travellers who want to understand a place through its people, food, traditions and everyday life. We explore the social, historical and sensory dimensions of each destination, learning directly from local communities and engaging with the cultural practices that shape daily life.

Our focus is on participation rather than observation. Through markets, food traditions, domestic life, craft practices, agriculture and local histories, guests gain insight into the knowledge, relationships and values that sustain a community. We learn from local guides, artisans, cooks, farmers and families whose lived experience provides a deeper understanding of place.

The people we meet are not subjects for observation; they are our teachers.

Learning Through Participation

Anna’s journeys are built around direct cultural engagement. Experiences may include shopping alongside local cooks in neighbourhood markets, cooking within family homes, learning traditional craft techniques, visiting workshops and ateliers, sharing meals with local families, and spending time with craftspeople whose skills have been passed through generations.

These are not performances created for tourists. They are opportunities to learn through conversation, observation and participation, developing a richer understanding of local culture and everyday life.

Travellers who join us should approach each destination with curiosity, humility and a willingness to engage with experiences that may be unfamiliar. This may involve early mornings in busy markets, encountering new foods and flavours, participating in traditional practices, or spending time in places where tourism is not the centre of daily life.

Creative practices such as sketching, photography and writing are welcomed as tools for observation and reflection. They help deepen engagement with what is being experienced, but they are not the primary focus of the journey.

These experiences are designed for travellers seeking a deeper understanding of culture through meaningful human connection, participation and learning.

Culture is the purpose of the journey; creativity is one of the ways we process and remember what we discover along the way.

Forts, Palaces & Tombs

Amer Fort Agra Fort Taj Mahal Hawa Mahal Qutab Minar

Move through the first palaces and tombs of empire, where early fortifications and Mughal gardens sit within a landscape shaped by power, craft, and time. Stone corridors, carved screens, and resting places of rulers reveal cities built in layers, where history is held quietly in form, proportion, and space.

Markets, cooking classes, and gastronomy reveal a living food culture shaped by region and history. From the street-side rhythm of chaat to the richness of Punjabi and Rajasthani cuisine, each experience opens into layered traditions and everyday flavour. Discover the Mughlai influence at its core, alongside contemporary expressions that include Tibetan momos and the distinct evolution of Indian-Chinese cooking.

Markets of textiles, spice, and craft, where everyday life is shaped by layers of culture and exchange. Shared experiences and guided encounters, connect you more closely with place.

Observing detail, rhythm, and atmosphere where food, art, and culture are lived rather than displayed.

Mughlai cuisine and cultural influence shaped by the courts of the Mughal Empire.

It is characterised by slow cooking, rich sauces, layered spices, and an attention to texture and aroma—seen in dishes like biryani, korma, and kebabs—where Persian, Central Asian, and Indian traditions are brought into a composed, enduring culinary language.

Agra & The Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal unfolds in white marble, where precise symmetry, reflective water, and shifting light shape a space that feels both grounded and weightless. As the day changes, its surfaces soften and glow, revealing a design where proportion, material, and atmosphere are held in perfect balance.

Sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. There are so few tourists you practically have the Taj to yourself. No crowds to fight through and plenty of space for creativity.

Evening Sunset in the Mebthab Bagh Garden to view the Taj from the back side. Built in 16th century by Babur. This garden was tagged as the ‘moonlit pleasure garden’.

Samode Village & Rural Landscape

Travel by jeep through the rural landscapes surrounding Samode, where farmland, desert terrain, and village life reveal a quieter dimension of Rajasthan.

Accompanied by our guide, explore the village's historic lanes and observe the social and economic rhythms that shape daily life. Encounters with artisans, agricultural workers, shopkeepers, and residents offer insight into living traditions, local craftsmanship, and contemporary rural culture.

This experience provides a thoughtful introduction to the region beyond its palaces and monuments, highlighting the relationship between landscape, community, and craft.

Picnic lunch at The Bagh and time for personal creative practices.

  • Visit the Indian National Airways market with Ms Neha. A food bazaar with fresh seafood, meat, spices, vegetables and fruits. We then journey back to her home for a hands on cooking session learning to make some of the signature dishes of North India.

Afternoon rest then in the PM visit Qutab Minar - This UNESCO World Heritage Site isn't just a monument; it's a journey through time. Standing at 72.5 meters (237.8 feet), this masterpiece is the tallest masonry tower in India. The monument, constructed from red and buff sandstone in the 12th century, has withstood the test of time. Marvel at its intricate carvings, design, projecting balconies, and staggering height—which has drawn people from around the globe. Enjoy dinner with a view of ruins and watch the sunset.

  • Breakfast then transit to Jaipur. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel. Lunch at the hotel. Evening we move to a local family home who offer an intimate, hands-on experience in authentic Rajasthani culinary arts, we learn to make traditional dishes like Dal Baati Churma, Gatte ki Sabzi, and diverse rotis while hearing cultural stories.

  • After breakfast we proceed to Hawa Mahal (wind palace) and City Palace. After lunch at Niros Restaurant we drive to Amer Fort.

Also referred to as the Amber Palace, the fort is located on a hill in Amer, Rajasthan. Just eleven kilometres from the city of Jaipur, the Amber fort is a major tourist attraction. Built by Raja Man Singh, the fort, which is also spelt as Amer fort, is a scenic marvel. It stands on top of an easily scalable mountain, which is situated right next to the beautiful Maota Lake. The fort’s majestic appearance and its geographical advantages make it a special place to visit. The fort presents a fascinating blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. It is built using red sandstone and white marble.

  • The highlight of the trip.

After breakfast, we drive to Samode Village which for the whole day trip. The Samode jeep safari and village tour offers an immersive experience through rugged rural terrain, sand dunes, and farmland, culminating in the vibrant Samode village. Wander around the cobbled lanes, guided by knowledgeable locals who offer insights into daily life. The village, a microcosm of India, bustles with a variety of people to greet and chat, artisans, shops workmen and even ladies going about their daily lives. A leisurely walk allows guests to engage with locals, savour tea, and explore unique arts and crafts. This tour provides a close-up of rural Indian life, away from urban bustle.

    Picnic lunch at The Bagh.

Evening back to Jaipur and Dinner

  • After breakfast, we move to Johari Bazaar. One of the most famous places to shop in Jaipur. The word ‘Johari’ in Hindi means ‘Jeweller’. Aptly described, the market is lined with innumerable shops that deal with exclusive jewellery representing the rich Rajasthani culture of the city. The wide array of jewellery line the streets of the market.

Temple walk to experience the local Hindu prayer ceremonies.

Block printing workshop in the afternoon.

  • We drive to the city of Taj Mahal – Agra. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel. Lunch at the hotel.

In the evening, proceed to visit Mebthab Bagh Garden to view the Taj from the back side.

Although the width of the garden is aligned with the width of Taj Mahal, Mehtab Bagh was not built for Taj Mahal, it was literally the opposite. This garden has been in the city, several centuries before Taj Mahal appeared. This as the garden built in 16th century by Babur. This garden was tagged as the ‘moonlit pleasure garden’. This garden has kept its beauty for several centuries as; even Shah Jahan admired the garden. From this spot, he chose the right spot for his Taj Mahal.

Dinner open eatery joint where the locals hang out.

  • Today will be a busy day. Early morning, we leave just before sunrise to be the first in line to visit the Taj Mahal in the cool of the morning and in the best light. The best part at this time in the morning is there are so few tourists you practically have the Taj to yourself. No crowds to fight through and plenty of opportunities to take photos that are people free and in the most dramatic lighting too. Seriously, the Taj Mahal is an incredibly moving experience - the Taj wasn’t built to commemorate a war or as a grandiose tribute to the ego of a ruler - it was built for one reason: LOVE. We challenge you not to cry when you are standing there with a loved one, a rising sun, and one of the most beautiful buildings on the planet sitting in front of you.

Marble Art Palace to experience marble inlay artisans at work.

Zardozi Atelier. Zardozi work which is an elaborate,

stones on heavy fabrics like velvet and Silk. Originating in Persia, it flourished in India under the Mughals. Today, it remains a highly coveted style for bridal wear.
